South Paw Bed & Bath's low-stress atmosphere yields pets that are happy, eat well, enjoy their visit, and are eager to return to our kennel. Our experienced staff is trained to identify any warning signs or potential health problems. We are well educated to care for and monitor geriatric and "special needs" pets.
- We cannot accept female dogs that are “in heat” or “in season” for boarding or grooming services.
- Dogs are required to have yearly vaccinations for Bordetella, Distemper/Parvo/Corona and Rabies.
- Cats are required to have yearly vaccinations for Feline Leukemia Combination and Rabies.
- All pets boarded are required to be flea and tick free. If pets have fleas or ticks we must treat the pet and owner will be charged for the flea/tick medication.
Our boarding guest’s comfort and well-being is very important to us. Due to health and safety concerns we supply safe, washable & sanitized bedding for our guests. PLEASE DO NOT BRING BEDDING FROM HOME! Your pet’s favorite treats are welcome as well as their snacks and food. Please label your pet’s snacks and food with name and feeding schedule and preferred amount.
If your pet needs medication while at the kennel, you must provide the medication with instructions, however, there will be a small additional charge for bandage/wound care or insulin injections. We make every effort to keep guests on their accustomed routines, so inform us of any special needs your pet may have such as certain feeding or exercise times.
Surveillance cameras are situated throughout our facility so our staff can check on your fur babies in the wee hours when we aren’t physically on site. The security and safety of our guests are our top priority.

DEPARTURE BATHS: Scheduled for the morning of check out with an evening pick up. These baths are great for a fresh “spruce up” bath with light brush out before going home.
FULL SERVICE BATHS: Scheduled for the morning of check out with an evening pick up. These “spa” baths include coat specific bath, de-shedding treatment, nails, anal gland & ear care.

In an effort to reduce stress of vacationing pets, the lobby is closed outside of the normal business hours. We understand that there may be a need for an exception and will certainly work with you.
If possible, please have your pet here by 5pm for check-in, this allows our staff to get your pet situated & settled in before closing.
After-hours business related telephone calls will be promptly returned the next business day. In the event of an emergency or special circumstance, after-hours and Sunday-scheduled services will be allowed however an additional fee may be charged for this exception.
We are at South Paw MANY more hours than the listed times. Many hours are set aside for us to take care of our most important customers - the furry, four-legged kind. We live on the property and are almost always here. However, we set business hours in order to maintain our lives outside of South Paw.

What to Expect When Your Pet Returns Home After Boarding
- Your pet will undoubtedly be happy to see you after the trip. Follow a few simple tips to ease the transition back to home life.
- Over-excitement may make a pet pant a lot and act thirsty. He is probably not really thirsty & had plenty of water available at the boarding facility. Give him a few ice cubes to tide him over until he settles down.
- Food: ditto. But please be aware that excessive drinking and eating may lead to digestive upsets and bloating. Do not feed your pet for at least three hours after coming home from the kennel, and then limit the food and water you provide until he has settled back into home life.
- Walk your pet upon arrival or allow access to a yard area. Excitement may also cause a change in urination or bowel movements outside his normal schedule.
- Give your pet some personalized attention - some play time or sitting and petting or brushing him will help get through the excitement stage & calm down.
- Kennel life can be very exciting, and some dogs charge around barking at other dogs and have a wonderful time. These dogs often leave the kennel exhausted but happy, and sleep a lot the first few days they are home.
- Re-establish home patterns by following a normal schedule. Pets love the following of a schedule - it makes them feel safe and secure.
- After you pick kitty up from the kennel, be sure to keep him in the house for a few days before allowing him to go outside. Just as he had to adjust to the kennel, so will he have to adjust to being home again. Allow him to find that "at home" feeling again before letting him out of the house.
